Chicago, IL-From April 9th to April 30th 2010, Garage Spaces in Humboldt Park gets ephemeral with Retrospective, a temporary community museum created through the collaboration of artists/curators Mike Bancroft and Evan Plummer.
This exhibit revives and re-presents the artwork, artifacts, and experiences of the Stolen, Den and Funeral shows, which ran in the autumn of 2009 in Garage Spaces. Retrospective curates a meta-mess of the compulsive documentation that chronicles the history, development, and aftermath of this experiment in publicly transformed private spaces.
Retrospective was announced to the public in early March through a series of MCA-styled billboards located in Chicago’s West Side. They have been mistaken for a Clear Channel hoax/“partnership.” They will come down at the end of March, locations can be found at: http://www.garagespaces.org/retrospective_locations.html
