On the heels of the recent layoffs at the
Art Institute we have heard further disturbing news about some local art institutions. Over the weekend
Llyod Dobler, a long-running apartment gallery in West Town, was visited by City of Chicago police officers and told they can no longer host art events in their residence. We also heard from the grapevine that The
Spertus Museum is firing the majority of their staff keeping the director and a preparator as the only full time staff members. The Spertus is slated to significantly reduce their hours to being open on Sundays only.
